Summary: KeepTrack is an on-device, local-first utility. Your items, dates, photos, receipts, and notes remain on your physical device. KeepTrack does not operate a cloud backend and does not require user accounts.
1. Overview & Architecture
KeepTrack ("the Application") is developed to provide a private, local-first experience for tracking product expiration dates, warranty periods, purchase receipts, and product details. We believe personal inventory and household records belong solely to the individual user.
2. Local User Content
All data you create or store within KeepTrack remains exclusively on your device within the application's private sandbox storage:
Item Records: Product names, categories, purchase dates, expiry dates, warranty end dates, purchase prices, and notes.
Locally Stored Images: Product photos and receipt images captured with your camera or selected from your photo library.
Scanned Barcodes & Text: Barcode numbers and expiry dates detected during camera scanning sessions.
KeepTrack first-party application code does not transmit, upload, or synchronize any of this user content to external servers or cloud databases.
KeepTrack incorporates Google ML Kit (an on-device machine learning library) for printed expiry date recognition (OCR) and barcode reading. While all image and text processing occurs locally on your device:
The Google ML Kit SDK utilizes Google DataTransport to transmit limited technical diagnostics, API performance metrics, error codes, and pseudonymous device specifications to Google.
This telemetry does not include your personal item information, product images, receipt captures, or recognized expiry text.
4. Device Permissions
KeepTrack requests only the permissions necessary to provide core utility features:
Camera: Used exclusively in real-time scanning sessions to scan barcodes, recognize printed expiry dates, and photograph items or receipts. Camera frames are processed in device memory and are never streamed externally.
Photo Library: Accessed via the system photo picker solely when you choose an existing photo for an item or receipt. KeepTrack does not request broad storage permissions.
Notifications: Used to schedule local reminders on your device for upcoming expiration dates and warranty deadlines. No remote push notifications or external notification servers are used.
5. User Accounts & Cloud Infrastructure
KeepTrack operates entirely without user accounts. You do not need to register, provide an email address, or create a password. KeepTrack operates no remote application servers or cloud databases.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Because all user data resides locally on your device:
You may delete any individual item, product photo, or receipt at any time directly within the app. Deleting an item permanently removes its database record and deletes associated image files from local storage.
Uninstalling KeepTrack or clearing the application's data via your device operating system permanently purges all stored items, media, and settings.
7. Children's Privacy
KeepTrack is a general-purpose household and personal utility. It is not directed at children, nor does it knowingly collect personal information from children.
